Southern venue for CLA Game Fair
This year the CLA Game Fair moves Broadlands, Romsey, Hampshire, providing
an ideal backdrop for the world's leading countryside event between Friday
26 and Sunday 28 July. The Game Fair was last held at Broadlands in 1984,
where it proved to be one of the most successful in the event's history
and is still remembered fondly by the many who visited that year.
One of Broadlands' highlights is the world-renowned River Test which flows
through the centre of the spacious grounds, enabling the Fisherman's Village
and the many fishing events to be located on one of the leading chalk
streams in the World.
The rest of the show spreads through the estate's impressive parkland,
which was laid out by Lancelot Capability Brown in 1776. This provides
attractive settings for the gundogs, the clays and the many other features
of the show, which includes the Totally Food Show, Discover Falconry and
Toyota's 4 x 4 course.
This year The Game Fair will be introducing a new horse area.
Broadlands is the home of Lord Romsey, grandson and heir of the late Earl
Mountbatten of Burma, and has been in the family since the time of his
forbear Lord Palmerston. It is within easy reach of the motorway system
via the M3 and M27 and for travelling by train there are good rail links
into Romsey Station.
