Black Hotspot Nymph
I am getting more and more fond of hotspot flies - especially when the
water is producing small black buzzers and nymphs and the like.
This fishes well at all sizes between 10 and 20 so dont be afraid
t give it a go. Its best fished quite slowly - figure of eight retrieve
- and you can put on two of quite different sizes to convince the fish
that one is chasing the other!
Pattern
Hook: Ashima F 40 sizes 10 to 20
Silk: Black 8/0
Tail: Black dyed pheasant tail
Rib: fine silver wire up to fine oval tinsel depending on size
Thorax: This is for you, but I favour gold, silver and red for mine. You
can also use holographic tinsel.
Wing cover: The rest of the pheasant tail fibre
Tying
Tie the fly just as you would a Pheasant
Tail Nymph; you can weight the fly if you wish.
