Testers' comments

Terry Lawton: This is a powerful rod that was lighter to cast with a 7# line than the comparable Greys GRX rod. With an 8# line the RedFly is not quite as powerful as the GRX but has the real benefit that you could cast and fish it for very much longer than the GRX. The RedFly action is pleasanter and the line rating is, perhaps, a better match to the blank.

Not wishing to labour the point, the snake rings on this rod were smaller than on the 9' RedFly. Possibly a lack of quality control somewhere. Again the actual wrappings were very good.

Simon Lewin:
Another rod that's a bit heavier than I would normally use. The feel of this was slightly better than the Grey GRX 9'6" though I have to say that the Grey probably cast better.

The rod felt fairly balanced and the cork handle was comfortable. I was not so sure about the cork extension handle. Knowing how I'd use the rod - standing it on the floor by the car - I'd prefer this to something be made of something slightly harder wearing.

Richard Slaughter: This rod was very similar to the 9' model in terms of quality and action. It is a powerful rod that handled both line weights with ease. I think that it would take a 9# shooting head easily. It is a much lighter rod than the Greys equivalent. It is a good casting rod which can be used for long periods without a break.
