Testers' comments

Simon Lewin: A heavy, powerful rod. Like the 9' Scierra, the build quality is very good and the rod casts a line very easily - even with shorter lengths of line. An excellent large stillwater or reservoir rod. I’d not come across Scierra rods before this test and this was probably my favourite of the longer rods that we tried. Unfortunately the rods hadn’t arrived in time for our test so we didn’t have the benefit of Richard’s comments on both of the Scierra rods.

We'll certainly be requesting rods from Scierra again in the future and we'll perhaps review these rods again with the full team if appropriate.

Terry Lawton: This rod felt right from the word go, unlike its smaller sibling. It was beautifully balanced and did not feel like a 10' 7# rod. As well as handling a 7# line at long distance, it was surprisingly good casting just 15' of line. When casting such a short line the rod felt like a sports car waiting for its driver to step on the loud pedal: plenty of power waiting to go into action. I tried the rod with an 8# which it handled with aplomb. Casting accuracy was very good.

This was definitely my favourite big rod.
