Testers' comments

Terry Lawton: This rod had a slightly heavy feel and the amount of vibration produced during casting could have been lower. It cast well - better with the heavier of the two recommended weights of line - and is fair value for money. The American snake rings were of a generous and sensible size for the length and line weight.

Richard Slaughter: This rod had a lovely finish although it was let-down by the quality of the cork handle. It has a powerful middle to tip action. I could cast well at short distances but did have problems with accuracy. I had no problems with medium-distance casts and, when I got the hang of slowing things down, it cast a full line.

It will be a good bank fishing rod for larger stillwaters but it will take time to get used to the rod's action. Perseverance will produce long casts with good turnover. Although it is not a bad rod for the money, it is not my cup of tea.

Simon Lewin: Another solidly built Snowbee rod. I liked the matt black blank. It was fairly 'heavy' in use - perhaps heavier than I would have liked and I felt it cast better for medium and long distance casts rather than shorter casts. Like Terry I think that this rod performs better with heavier of the two line weights that Snowbee recommend.
