Testers' comments

Richard Slaughter: This was an excellent quality rod in all departments. It was well balanced and felt great. All types of cast happened with the minimum of effort. Double hauling produced loads of line speed and tight loops to die for, even though at times I was putting in too much effort. The line weighting is spot on.

For me this three piece rod was a revelation and is really good value for money. It performed as well as rods costing three times the price and will cope with all types of fishing from river to reservoir. I would recommend this rod to anyone.

Terry Lawton: Immediate contact - this rod talks to you. This was an instant favourite with all of us! The progressive medium/fast action blank is very forgiving and a real pleasure to cast. The line weight is absolutely spot on. It will do everything you want a rod to do: from casting two rod lengths of line right up to long casts. This is a rod that feels right from the moment you pick it up. This factor will, I am sure, make it a big seller with anyone wanting a 9' rod with the practicality of three sections.

The build quality of this rod was very good and the ground blank had a much smoother finish than some rods. The cosmetics are trimmed with metallic silver thread. Although the reel seat looked nice, the sliding band did have a tendency to jamb on the reel foot. The cork handle was of reasonable quality although there was some filler in it.

On the face of it, the guarantee seems rather limited, particularly when compared to Redington's lifetime replacement policy.
Another rod I would recommend without hesitation.

Simon Lewin: This is an excellent rod. The build quality is very good and the handle was very comfortable in use. The rod felt balanced. It's perfectly rated for the 5 weight line - and it's good to see a manufacturer being confident about exactly what line you should use. I've always found multi-rated rods confusing. Casting was a dream - for both short, medium and longer casts. This is a forgiving rod, giving you time to correct a badly timed cast.

The reel seat is good and a major plus must surely be that this is a three-piece rod and comes with a sturdy case - perfect for travelling or leaving in your car boot.
