Snowbee Prestige Breathable Wading Jacket
Keeping dry and warm when fishing in the rain or bad weather is made easier with good clothing. While chest waders will keep you dry from your chest downwards, keeping the rest of your body and arms dry is more difficult. The best way is to wear a good short wading jacket. The use of breathable materials coupled with good design and cut means that most wading jackets perform pretty well today.
One of the best features of Snowbee’s Prestige Breathable Wading Jacket is the cuffs. They have neoprene lined, adjustable inner cuffs (with Velcro adjustment) and outer cuffs which are adjusted by two good-size press studs. This combination should stop any rain from finding its way down your arms.
The jacket is made from a nice soft green material and is very comfortable to wear and the cut is such that the jacket doesn’t interfere with your casting. There is an integral hood with elasticated draw cord and rain peak. The waist can also be adjusted with an elasticated draw cord and toggle locks. The front is closed with a zip and storm flap with press studs.
Pockets include a large zipped pocket on the back, two front bellows pockets with hand-warmer pockets behind and two inside pockets, again with zips. The access to the hand warmer pockets is very small and only just big enough to get your hands in. More generous hand-warmer pockets and better access would be appreciated by many. Another niggle is that the main front zip is very small and a bigger one would be that much easier to use, as well as being stronger and more durable. There is a D-ring on the back and two on the front.
All in all, this jacket should be a good buy at £109. The only way to tell if it is capable of keeping driving rain out when fishing all day and for more than one day, is a long-term test. But Snowbee has up-graded its range of breathable jackets and its breathable material uses the company’s Vapour-Tec system “to provide superior water resistance and breathability.”
