Rod Test Conclusions Amongst the mid-price range the rods I most enjoyed using were the Redington TFF 9064 and the Orvis Silver Label TL both of which were outstanding performers. At
the lower price end the Redington Red Fly and the Snowbee Prestige
2 both endeared themselves to me. The Red Fly for its all-round value
for money and excellent performance and the Prestige 2 for its super feel
and its ability to 'cast out of sight' (remember though that this is a
true 7 weight rod whilst the others are all 5 or 6 weights). The other rod that I liked particularly was the Vision Extreme but it does suffer slightly from the convenience point of view, compared with the Silver Label and the Wayfarer, from being a three piece. But don't let that put you off. At the bottom end of the price range, the Snowbee Diamond II is an ideal rod for someone who will make only occasional use of a travel rod. But be prepared to be converted. The Vision Flywater at another £30 odd more is very definitely worth consideration by the budget angler. The
